Here are the materials I used. I had everything except fabric paint (and the store only had dimensial fabric paint so I used it like it was normal fabric paint.
Step 1 Cut your 3x5 notecards in half like so.
Step 2 Use heart punch to punch one heart in the card (try and make in even on both sides, like it is centered).
Step 3 Put a piece of cardboard in between the shirt sides. Now place all of the cards how you want them on your shirt (I did sort of a staggered brick pattern).
Step 4 Using the fabric paint and a small brush, paint the heart carefully (painting in toward the center not away).
Step 5 Remove the card after each heart is painted.
Step 6 If you need to, carefully free-hand to give the hearts a second coating.
(wait 4 hours for paint to dry and 72 hours before washing)

I love the way it turned out and it cost me next to nothing. It is simple and just cute. It could be done with any colors and with any shape really. I think I wanna try a circle shape and make a polka-dot shirt. Thanks for reading!

DeleteIs it good to go through the wash? Maybe inside out and on gentle cycle?
ReplyDeleteIt's freaking adorable. I'm all about it.
Yes, it is good to go through the wash. I just put the shirt(inside out) with a load of laundry. I used cold water. And then I turned it right side out to dry flat. It looked the complete same after I washed it. Also the paint did not crack or anything like that.

DeleteWhere did the hear hole puncher i have been trying to find a heart hole that size for months now.
ReplyDeleteI got it for $3-4 at a craft store called Pat Catans. Sadly it does not have that many locations. The best I could find it online are through these two places:
